The Poconoes

This past weekend I took a trip with friends to the Poconoes. The Poconoes is a place where many people go to getaway and have fun. Since it is Winter time there is many Winter activities to do there. On Saturday it began to snow a lot in the Poconoes. Seeing the mountains and the trees covered in the snow was absouloutly stunning. The fact that many of the activities done in the Poconoes are outside it was extremely cold, half of the time there I could barely feel my toes. One of the activities I did that was a lot of fun was snow tubing. You go up a big hill and when you get to the top you sit in your tube and speedily slide down the hill. It was also fun just hanging out with my friends in a house and getting away from my usual surrondings. I would reccomend to anyone a small trip to the Poconoes in the Winter or the Spring. It is not to far away from New York City and there is many fun, exhilarating things to do there.

Can you believe all the snow!!

This year's winter has really hit New York hard. I can not remember the last time it snowed so much in such little time. We are only in the beginning of February and I have lost count of how many times it snowed already. When I was a kid I used to get excited when it snowed, it was pretty and of course I could go outside and play in it. Sledding, snow angels, building a snow man were all things I looked forward to when it snowed. Those exciting snow days are now a distant memory in the past. Now that I am an adult I can not stand the snow. When it first begins to snow I must admit it is beautiful, but when the reality sets in that I have to go outside, in the cold, clean and dig out my car, I am back to hating the snow.
This week alone it already snowed twice, and not just a dust I mean it really snowed! Unfortunately the snow is not over, their expecting more snow this weekend and it could be the worse snow storm we have seen so far! I guess I should try to think more positive about living in New York, you would think after twenty-five years of living here I would be used to the snow. Truth is you never really get used to the snow, you get through the Winter by counting down the months till Spring and Summer, my favorite time of the year.

Many people in America love Football and even people who do not necessarily like Football usally still watch the Super Bowl. Many people and places have Super Bowl parties. I always look forward to going to my friends sisters house to enjoy a good time with great people, while also enjoying great football food, such as wings. I also get very excited for half time, where there is always a great performance. Last year one of my favorite artists performed and this year I am happy with the artist as well. Why I decided to get my Masters Degree in TESOL

In May of 2013 I finished a Post-Baccalaureate 7-12 Certification Program to become a teacher. Since  have finishing the program I have debated what subject I should get my Masters degree in. Through out the education program, professors insisted that we, the students achieve a Masters degree in something that will make us more marketable as a teacher. I could understand why the Professors continued to drill it into our heads that we should achieve a marketable certification, but I did not want to study a specific certification if I was not interested in that certification just to be marketable. I wanted to study something that I was going to enjoy learning and teaching. During my student teaching experience I both observed and student taught with English Language Learners. During my student teacher experience with English Language Learners I really enjoyed my time with them. I enjoyed the smaller classrooms and the more one on one time you could spend with students in an English Language Learners classroom. I liked helping English Language Learners in a regular classroom and seeing the progress they made through out the year. I also loved the strategies used to help English Language Learners learn, strategies that I knew would also help me in an English classroom.
